What Is SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment)?

SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is a bus interface protocol that connects a host controller to a storage device, such as HDD or SSD. The technology transfers data between a controller (such as a motherboard) to a storage device as a signed sequence of individual bits.

SATA replaces PATA (Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment) due to being less vulnerable to interferences and slimmer cables.
