What Is LAN (Local Area Network)?

A LAN (Local Area Network) is a set of interconnected devices in a single physical location such as a residence or an office building. LAN devices are connected using networking technologies like Ethernet and WiFi, which provide a set of standards for cabling, switches, and wireless routers, as well as protocols for information transmission. Larger LANs are often divided into virtual LANs (VLANs) to simplify network administration and increase security.
