What is Data Management?

Data management is a set of practices established by an organization to deal with large amounts of data. The practices define the way in which this data is collected, stored, protected, and organized.

The aim of data management procedures is to make the organization’s data easily accessible and reliable. To achieve this, the data is usually stored in databases created and maintained using database management systems (DBMS). Databases manage the operational data and facilitate the storing of the historical and cumulative data in a data warehouse.
