What Is a DNS Provider?

A DNS (Domain Name System) provider is an organization that manages a database of domain names and their associated IP addresses. DNS is a system that translates domain names into machine-readable IP addresses assigned to websites, email servers, online services, etc.

When someone on the Internet types a domain name into a browser, the DNS provider's server fetches the associated IP address and sends it back to the user. The browser then connects with the web server that hosts the requested website.
